PureFlow GS1 technology prioritizes management and traffic shaping to ensure fair access for mission critical applications and improving traffic-bandwidth-constraint/latency problems in data centers and remote locations across a WAN. FE/GbE maximum throughput performance in both the uplink and downlink directions helps maximize return on investment in WAN bandwidth by offering burst traffic solutions to service providers using high-speed, large-capacity lines as virtual private networks.

Anritsu recently conducted a demonstration that showed how 1 Gbps packet "microbursts" from a server can be shaped to the optimum packet interval using the PureFlow GS1 series. Simulated server traffic was monitored with 1-ms resolution using the Anritsu MD1230B Data Quality Analyzer, which visualized "microbursts" and shaped traffic in real time.

The capability showcased in the demonstration is vital in today's networks, as businesses are accelerating their BCP (Business Continuity Plan) countermeasures, increasing use of data centers and cloud services in the IT field. These services greatly increase traffic flow on carriers' networks. In the mobile communications field, the explosive growth of smartphones and tablets is causing rapid increases in backhaul traffic, as well.
