Arias Sanguinetti: Family of Woman Runover on Santa Monica Beach Files Wrongful Death Lawsuit

LOS ANGELES, Aug. 4, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- The family of Sherese Allen, who was run over and killed on the beach in Santa Monica, filed a lawsuit in Los Angeles Superior Court alleging the City of Santa Monica created a dangerous condition through its own negligence, leading to Ms. Allen's death.

On October 17, 2024, Sherese was resting on the sand in Santa Monica Beach. At the same time, an individual drove his vehicle onto the beach and according to the complaint made circular motions at a high rate of speed on the sand. The suspect paid no attention to his surroundings and struck Sherese, trapping her underneath the vehicle which resulted in her fatal injuries.

Compounding this was the sheer negligence of the City of Santa Monica. The City had control over the beach area, and in spite of other fatalities and vehicle incidents over the years, the City has done nothing to make the area is off-limits to drivers. The suit accuses The City of Santa Monica of failing to provide proper safeguards and for creating a dangerous condition by failing to curb the dangers of drivers getting onto the beach.

"Eugenia Tate and Antron Allen are Sherese's surviving parents and were heartbroken to learn of their daughter's death," said attorney Elise Sanguinetti of Arias Sanguinetti. "Sherese was killed, and the City of Santa Monica allowed it to happen. The biggest reason for this lawsuit is to convince Santa Monica to finally make the beach safe so that this never happens again."

In March of 2025, Ms. Sanguinetti filed a government claim which was the first step towards a lawsuit.

The case is Eugenia Tate and Antron Allen v. The City of Santa Monica, Yuyang Sun, Liang Tang, Jie Ding, Los Angeles Superior Court, Case No. 25SMCV03861.
