Attems Releases the 2025 Vintage of Cicinis Sauvignon Blanc

The new vintage of the estate's flagship Sauvignon Blanc reflects precision, elegance, and a distinctive sense of place

COLLIO GORIZIANO, Italy, Sept. 8, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Attems, the Frescobaldi family's estate in Friuli Venezia Giulia, introduces Cicinis 2025, the latest vintage of the estate's cru wine. Made entirely from Sauvignon Blanc grown in a single vineyard, Cicinis expresses the freshness, depth, and distinctive characters of the Collio Goriziano region.

Cicinis comes from the slopes of the terraced hill of the same name, located at the foot of Monte Calvario in Podgora. Here, the vines are rooted in Ponca, Collio's distinctive soil, composed of sandstone, sand, and silt formed from ancient marine sedimentary rock.

The vineyard's terraced exposure, unique soil composition, and significant temperature changes between day and night create a refined and expressive wine with remarkable freshness, minerality, and aromatic complexity that come together in a natural balance.

The 2025 growing season was marked by particularly favorable weather conditions. A mild and stable spring, with average temperatures ranging from 64°F to 68°F and approximately 10 inches of rainfall between April and May, supported even budbreak and balanced vine growth.

During the summer, sunny days and well-distributed rainfall allowed the grapes to ripen gradually. Daytime temperatures ranged from 82°F to 90°F, while nighttime temperatures fell to around 59°F. These significant temperature shifts helped preserve acidity and enhance the grapes' aromatic concentration.

Harvest followed the natural ripening cycle of the different Sauvignon Blanc terraces. The parcels with the greatest sun exposure were harvested in early September, producing grapes with vibrant acidity and intense citrus aromas. The final parcels, harvested during the second half of the month, contributed riper exotic and tropical notes, along with greater softness and roundness.

The grapes are harvested by hand at dawn and gently whole-cluster pressed. After 24 hours of static settling, alcoholic fermentation takes place in a combination of vessels: 40% in egg-shaped concrete tanks, 10% in new barriques, and the remaining 50% in second- and third-use barriques and tonneaux.

The wine then ages for eight months on the full lees and does not undergo malolactic fermentation. This approach preserves its freshness and tension, while aging in different vessels broadens the aromatic profile and adds harmony and depth.

Cicinis 2025 is a bright, intense straw-yellow color. The nose opens with aromas of lime zest and pink grapefruit, followed by notes of elderflower, Mediterranean herbs and a subtle smoky character.

On the palate, the wine is fresh and lively. Its refined, well-defined structure is supported by vibrant acidity and pleasant minerality. The finish is long and persistent, with returning citrus notes that highlight the wine's balance and strong connection to its place of origin.
