Belfonti Companies Donates To Notre Dame High School

HAMDEN, Conn., June 15, 2021 /PRNewswire/ -- Belfonti Companies, LLC announced that it has made a donation to the "Richard Belfonti '50 Memorial Scholarship" at Notre Dame High School in West Haven, CT, bringing the scholarship's total funding to $100,000. 

The scholarship was originally established by Richard Belfonti's family in honor of his 70^th birthday in 2002.  Since his passing in 2007, the scholarship continues to be a tribute to him.   Scholarships have been granted to qualifying student recipients every year since 2005, for a total of 16 awards to date.

According to Kathleen Wielk, the Vice President for Community Relationships and Leadership Giving at Notre Dame High School, "Richard Belfonti was a member of the first graduating class at Notre Dame in 1950.  He served on the yearbook committee, was president of the Christian Student Mission Club, and was an officer in the band." 

"Richard always lived the life of a 'Notre Dame Man,'" added Ms. Wielk.  "This was evident in his lifelong devotion to his faith, family and friends; his dedicated career in education, first as a teacher in New Haven and later as a principal in the North Branford public school system; his involvement in the greater community; and his continued loyalty throughout his life to Notre Dame High School.  The scholarship continues his legacy in selfless giving to others."

To qualify for a scholarship from the Richard Belfonti '50 Memorial Scholarship" the student must have significant financial need, be in good academic standing, and play a musical instrument in the school band.  https://www.notredamehs.com/
