Blue Ridge Bankshares, Inc. Elects New Director

LURAY, Va., June 19, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Blue Ridge Bankshares, Inc. (OTCQB: BRBS), parent company of Blue Ridge Bank (BRB), elected Richard T. Spurzem to its Board of Directors at its annual meeting on May 13, 2014. Mr. Spurzem is also serving on the Board of Directors of Blue Ridge Bank, BRBS's wholly-owned bank subsidiary.

Mr. Spurzem is a real estate investor and developer in Charlottesville.  His companies include Neighborhood Properties, Inc., University Apartments, LLC, Neighborhood Investments, LLC and Neighborhood Development, Inc.

Born and raised in Minnesota, Mr. Spurzem moved to Charlottesville in high school and graduated from the Tandem School. In 1983, he received his B.A. with Distinction in Economics from the University of Virginia where he was an Echols Scholar. He received his MBA from the Harvard Business School in 1987 and returned to Charlottesville to his real estate business that he had started when he was in his second year at UVA.

Mr. Spurzem has been active in the Charlottesville community. He serves as a Trustee (and Treasurer) of the Tandem Friends School, as a Trustee of the Jefferson Trust at the UVA Alumni Association, and as a Board member (past Chairman) of the Free Enterprise Forum. Previously, he has served on the Boards of the Blue Ridge Apartment Council (Chairman), the Virginia Apartment Management Association, and the Second Street Gallery (Treasurer). He also was a member of the City of Charlottesville's Housing Advisory Committee and the Rivanna Solid Waste Citizen's Advisory Committee. He is a 1994 graduate of the Leadership Charlottesville program.

Mr. Spurzem resides in Charlottesville with his wife and children.
