CHICAGO, Oct. 31, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Experts from Cars.com put three of the most popular minivans to the test in their "Ultimate Minivan Challenge" to determine the overall Best Minivan of 2016. The test took a "Challengers and Champions" approach in which the newest minivan on the market went head-to-head with the top two finishers in Cars.com's 2015 Minivan Challenge.
Minivans tested included the 2017 Chrysler Pacifica, 2016 Kia Sedona and the 2017 Toyota Sienna. After extensive testing, the 2017 Chrysler Pacific took the number one spot.
"The Pacifica is an extraordinary van from Chrysler that has taken the brand's minivan offering from outdated and unimpressive to best-in-class," said Patrick Olsen, Cars.com editor-in-chief. "It out-styles, out-drives and just plain out-wows the rest of the pack. It is a true joy to drive; something not often used to describe a minivan. Behind the engine, the van is versatile and packed with impressive family-friendly features."
The challenge, which included round-robin testing where each expert tested each car on the same course back-to-back, and a mileage drive to calculate real-world MPG, resulted in the following ranking:
- 2017 Chrysler Pacifica
- 2016 Kia Sedona
- 2017 Toyota Sienna
"While minivans may get a lot of disrespect in popular culture, in reality they remain perhaps the best use of space in any family vehicle, and the entire segment has undergone a huge makeover in the past two years," said Olsen.
