The global Christian humanitarian organization is committed to ending extreme poverty for children in our lifetime
SEATTLE, Sept. 3, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- In celebration of its 75th anniversary, World Vision announced its first all-in, organization-wide campaign, Everyone Needs a Believer. Intending to reach 300 million people in more than 70 countries by 2030, this capital campaign encompasses a series of strategic projects to empower people with LIFE (Water and Health); HOPE (Child Protection, Christian Discipleship, and Emergency Response), and a FUTURE (Economic Empowerment and Education). It comes at a time of significant global humanitarian impacts and setbacks, including federal funding cuts, the lasting effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, ongoing violence and conflicts, and rising costs.
According to World Bank, nearly 700 million people, around 8.5 percent of the global population, live in extreme poverty on less than $2.15 per day. Few organizations have the ability to meet the world's toughest challenges head-on and equip people to lift themselves out of poverty. By God's grace, World Vision does — at scale.
"At a time when unimaginable pain and suffering in our world is broadcast in real time and at a higher frequency on social media, it's normal to feel overwhelmed — or question what can be done. However, now more than ever, World Vision chooses to believe that God is faithful and is working in the world through His people," said Edgar Sandoval Sr., president and CEO of World Vision. "Through Everyone Needs a Believer, we will harness the full strength of World Vision — powered by the generosity and compassion of donors and partners — to accomplish something bigger than we've done before. And to encourage people to see the world through the eyes of Jesus."
The Everyone Needs a Believer campaign puts forth new goals to be achieved by 2030, including but not limited to:
- Reaching 30 million people with access to clean water.
- Engaging 46 million people in 49 countries with Christian discipleship activities and tools to support the spiritual nurture of children, including training 500,000 local pastors and leaders to multiply the impact of local churches.
- Providing access to life-saving healthcare for 80 million people and reaching 3,000 healthcare facilities with clean water.
- Reaching 65 million people impacted by emergencies and humanitarian crises around the globe.
- Improving food security and livelihoods for 50 million people, ensuring they have the tools needed to lift themselves out of extreme poverty.
- Equipping and empowering 150 million women and girls to overcome barriers that keep them from productive and fulfilled lives.
Financial Accountability & Integrated Approach
In 2024, World Vision used 87 percent of its total operating expenses for programs that benefit children, families, and communities in need. By integrating grants and donated goods into programs, the organization is able to provide an additional 80 cents worth of impact for children and families. For every $1 donated, World Vision delivers on average $1.80 in impact.
World Vision tackles poverty at its roots with an integrated approach that delivers clean water, healthcare, education, child protection, and economic empowerment. With a presence in nearly 100 countries, World Vision is uniquely situated to respond to humanitarian emergencies around the world — protecting lives, supporting dignity, and renewing hope. Not to mention, 75 years of experience working with communities, churches, donors, partners, and governments to create opportunities for better futures for vulnerable children, even in the places where it's hardest to be a child.
