Crimson Cup Coffee & Tea Helps Launch 870 Coffee Co. in Mountain Home, Arkansas

"We've loved every minute of getting to know our customers," said Myka Huett. "It's rewarding to watch someone try our coffee for the first time, then come back a day or two later with a friend. That's how we know we're doing something right."

She said the ease of communication was one of her favorite things about working with Crimson Cup. "I feel very welcomed and have no problem reaching out to Heather Syx and Steve Bayless when I have questions."

From Barista to Business Owner

Myka's journey began at the age of 17, when she landed her first job behind the coffee bar. Over the next seven years, she worked in three coffee shops, including Crazy Llama Coffee in Joplin, Missouri, where she spent four years serving Crimson Cup coffee. That experience sparked her dream of owning her own shop.

Before launching 870 Coffee Co., Myka worked in orthopedic trauma while continuing to pick up barista shifts. Coffee never stopped being part of her life. "I love the process, the people, and the connections that happen across the counter," she said.

Crimson Cup gave the Huetts the structure to bring their vision to life. Based in Columbus, Ohio, the roaster has helped more than 300 independent coffee entrepreneurs open shops in 37 states through its 7 Steps to Success program. Its coffee has earned national recognition, including Roast magazine's Roaster of the Year and multiple Good Food and Golden Bean awards.

Myka said she approached Crimson Cup not just for the support, but because she already believed in the product.

"I worked with Crimson Cup's product at Crazy Llama for four years and appreciated the taste," she said. "I wanted to bring that coffee to this area because I knew it was something different than what most shops offer."

Local Roots, Big Grand Opening Plans

The Huetts designed 870 Coffee Co. to serve Mountain Home's needs, offering both a cozy dine-in space and a drive-thru for guests on the go. The town, with a population of just under 14,000, has responded with enthusiasm.

To build early momentum, the couple visited nearby businesses to introduce themselves and offer samples. "Getting that first visit is the hardest part," said Myka. "But once they try our drinks, most people come back."

After the grand opening, the Huetts will begin hosting regular events to connect with the community and build lasting relationships. Crimson Cup's 7 Steps to Success team will support them with award-winning coffee, expert consulting, and a full line of specialty products tailored for independent shops.
