Easterseals Names Two New Members to Its National Board of Directors

CHICAGO, March 3, 2020 /PRNewswire/ -- Easterseals, the nation's leading nonprofit service provider and advocate for the one in four people living with disability in America today, recently elected Glenn Henderson, entrepreneur and motivational speaker, and Barry Simon, President and CEO at Easterseals of Oak Hill (CT), to its National Board of Directors.

Henderson is the former CEO of AFC Worldwide, a transportation and logistics company that he founded and sold in 2009. Additionally, Henderson has established and serves as CEO for a number of businesses including Business Accelerators, a company accelerator and incubator focused on small to mid-size nonprofit and start- up companies, and AFCLS, a global logistics and transportation company. He is also co-founder of Upscale Personal Care Home, an assisted living facility in Jacksonville (FL). The author of Rock Solid Principles of Business Development and Treasures of Darkness, Henderson has served as an academic speaker on business leadership and development at Harvard Business School and Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Management. He lives in Jacksonville (FL).

Simon has been a leader in the human services field in New England for more than 25 years. Prior to assuming the role of President and CEO at Oak Hill in Hartford (CT) in 2013, Simon was Executive Director of Gilead Community Services in Middletown (CT) for 20 years. Since taking the helm at Oak Hill, it has become the parent company of Gilead Community Services, Easterseals of Oak Hill (New Haven and Fairfield County) and Camp Hemlocks, allowing Oak Hill to continue to develop and expand the continuum of care and services for people with disabilities throughout Connecticut. Simon holds an MPA in Health Care Administration, an MA in Marital and Family Therapy, and a BA in Psychology, all from the University of Connecticut. A tireless advocate for all aspects of disability services, Simon counts Chair of the Executive Committee of the Connecticut Health Council and an appointment to the Connecticut Governor's Nonprofit Health and Human Services Cabinet and the IDD Partnership among his many volunteer roles. He co-chairs the Public Policy Committee of Easterseals National Board of Directors and lives in Hebron (CT).
