Flyers Rights Calls upon Airline Passengers to Weigh in with DOT Before Deadline TODAY
Flying Public has last chance to comment on new Rules to protect them today
NAPA, Calif., Sept. 23 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Today FlyersRights.org called upon the flying public to take advantage of their last chance to comment on the proposed NPRM (Notice of Proposed Rulemaking) for Enhancing Airline Passengers Rights by clicking here.
"Historically, the Department of Transportation has taken a back seat to Congress when it comes to regulating the airlines…not any more" said Kate Hanni, Director, "We now have the most pro-consumer DOT in history, redefining the way passengers are treated during air travel.
"Because Congress been unable to pass the FAA Reauthorization Bill, and because there is little hope on the horizon for its passage this year, our best shot at meaningful regulations for airline passengers rests squarely on the shoulders of Secretary Ray LaHood of DOT."
FlyersRights.org comprehensive comments have been filed to the docket click here. Here are a few of the highlights:
- International flights should be included in the 3 hour rule for Tarmac Delays, and international flights must report data to BTS for long Tarmac Delays
- All ancillary "unbundled" fees should be posted at point of purchase
- Air conditioning must be left on during all long on-ground Tarmac Delays
- Tarmac Time should begin the moment the door is shut
- Government fees and taxes should be refunded when a person cancels a non-refundable ticket
- Airline passengers should be notified every 30 minutes of any flight delays
- Requiring Foreign Air Carriers to create Tarmac Delay Contingency Plans
- Requiring all airports to have contingency plans for long on-ground delays
