In Her New Role, Jagger Attended the Delete Blood Cancer Gala, Which Raised $4 Million for the Cause

NEW YORK, May 8, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Today, leading global beauty company Coty Inc. announced that Georgia May Jagger—supermodel and face of Coty's color cosmetics brand Rimmel and fragrance brand Just Cavalli—has accepted an appointment as the first Coty Global Ambassador in the fight against blood cancer. Coty is founding corporate sponsor of Delete Blood Cancer-DKMS, the world's largest bone-marrow-donor-registration center.

As the face of two Coty brands, Jagger is a valued partner for the global beauty company. As the Coty Global Ambassador in the fight against blood cancer, she will serve as a spokesperson for the cause and help support Delete Blood Cancer. In that capacity, Jagger symbolically lit the Empire State Building in red and white to raise awareness for the fight against blood cancer. Also attending the lighting ceremony, which is a treasured annual tradition for the Coty-Delete Blood Cancer Linked Against Blood Cancer partnership, were Michele Scannavini, CEO of Coty Inc. and honorary chair of the eighth annual Delete Blood Cancer Gala, and Katharina Harf, co-founder of Delete Blood Cancer and gala host.

This year marks the eighth anniversary of the Coty-Delete Blood Cancer Linked Against Blood Cancer partnership as well as the eighth Delete Blood Cancer Gala. The A-list event took place on May 7 at Cipriani Wall Street and raised a record $4 million; in conjunction, the Empire State Building lit up the skies from sunset on May 7 until 2 a.m. on May 8 to help raise awareness of Delete Blood Cancer and its cause, as well as to celebrate the Gala and its fundraising goals.

"Since I first became involved with this important cause—the battle against blood cancer—I have been exploring ways to increase my role in bringing attention to something that has the potential to save so many lives," said Jagger. "I feel very honored to be the first Coty Global Ambassador in the fight against blood cancer, and I look forward to teaching everyone just how easy it is to register as a bone marrow donor."

"From the moment I met Georgia I was impressed by her heartfelt passion for the cause, making it a very easy decision to ask her to join us as the first Coty Global Ambassador," said Harf. "My mother lost her fight against this disease, so Georgia's support has been very dear to me personally."

"We are thrilled to be collaborating with Georgia in a different capacity as the Coty Global Ambassador supporting Delete Blood Cancer," added Scannavini. "We cannot thank Georgia enough for all the amazing work she's done, not only for our brands but for this important cause."

During the star-studded event, Katharina Harf, co-founder of Delete Blood Cancer-DKMS and co-host of the event, presented the "Delete Blood Cancer Award" to Evan Sohn and the Sohn Conference Foundation, recognizing the foundation's dedication to the treatment and cure of pediatric cancer. After the award presentation, the event featured two unforgettable performances by pop/rock artist LP and celebrity singer-songwriter Jessie J.

In the U.S., blood cancers kill more children than any other disease; and they are the second-leading cause of all cancer deaths. Many of these deaths could be prevented by a bone marrow transplant, but, sadly, half of patients never receive the lifesaving transplant they need in part because there are not enough registered donors.

About Delete Blood Cancer
Delete Blood Cancer started with one family's search for a bone marrow donor and is today part of the world's largest bone marrow donor center. We have helped register more than 4.6 million potential donors and facilitated over 41,000 lifesaving transplants around the world. But we're not stopping there. Every day we lead the fight against blood cancer by working with families, communities and organizations to recruit more donors and provide more patients with second chances at life. Delete Blood Cancer-DKMS Americas is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. For more information or to register as a bone marrow donor, please visit

About the Coty-Delete Blood Cancer Linked Against Blood Cancer Partnership
In October 2006, Coty Inc., leading beauty company, joined Delete Blood Cancer-DKMS as its founding corporate sponsor in the fight against blood cancer, by establishing the Coty-Delete Blood Cancer Linked Against Blood Cancer partnership. Coty has leveraged its strong celebrity partnerships to raise awareness of the disease and help recruit thousands of donors around the world. Additionally, Coty has assisted Delete Blood Cancer/DKMS in establishing independent DKMS organizations in the U.S., Poland and the U.K., with plans to open more offices across the globe. Leukemia, a blood cancer and one of the leading causes of cancer deaths worldwide, personally affected the Coty family when the wife of former Coty Chairman and Board member Peter Harf succumbed to the disease in 1991.
