Georgia Mission of Mercy Provides Dental Care to Thousands in Need

WHAT:

Georgia dentists from across the state will donate their time and expertise to provide dental care to thousands of adults in need through the Georgia Mission of Mercy (GMOM) project, an outreach program of the Georgia Dental Association and its Foundation for Oral Health. Basic dental services will be offered to low- and no-income adults including cleanings, fillings and extractions. GMOM's free, 100-chair portable dental clinic will be at the Georgia National Fairgrounds on June 19-20, 2015, doors opening at 5 a.m. on both days. Patients will be seen on a first-come, first-served basis with about 1,000 patients seen per day. The event will take place at Georgia National Fairgrounds and Agricenter, McGill Marketplace Building, 401 Larry Walker Pkwy, Perry, GA 31069. WHO:

The nonprofit Georgia Dental Association (GDA) is the state's largest dental association, representing 3,300 dentist members. The premier source of oral health information in Georgia, the GDA has promoted the highest standards of dentistry through education, advocacy and professionalism since 1859. A constituent of the American Dental Association, the GDA is based in Atlanta.

Georgia Mission of Mercy (GMOM) is a free, large-scale portable dental clinic for low- and no-income adults who are unable to pay for dental care.  Over two days, volunteer dentists and other dental health professionals provide donated dental care and oral health education to more than 2,000 patients, highlighting the oral health needs of the citizens of Georgia. An outreach program of the Georgia Dental Association, GMOM is funded by the Georgia Dental Association Foundation for Oral Health, a 501© (3) tax-exempt organization.
