Life Flight Network Achieves IS-BAO Level 2 Accreditation

AURORA, Ore., May 11, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Life Flight Network, the largest not-for-profit air medical transport service in the United States, has been awarded Level 2 of the International Standard for Business Aircraft Operations (IS-BAO).  Level 1, earned just 15 months ago, ensured Life Flight Network's safety infrastructure was established and activities were appropriately targeted. Achieving IS-BAO Level 2 confirms safety risks are being effectively managed. Life Flight Network continues to pursue the safest possible operations in the industry and is actively working towards Level 3 which is the highest certification level awarded by IS-BAO. Continued advancement within IS-BAO is just one of many such measures Life Flight Network engages in to promote safe and professional operations.

The International Business Aviation Council introduced the IS-BAO program after recognizing the need for the business aviation community to take a lead role in fostering harmonization of operating procedures and requirements. IS-BAO's fundamental purpose is to foster standardized, safe, and highly professional aircraft operations.

IS-BAO was amended in 2012 to facilitate implementation by helicopter operators. This was a joint effort between IBAC, Helicopter Association International (HAI), British Helicopter Association (BHA) and the European Helicopter Association (EHA). IS-BAO has become the global leader in safety standards for the business aviation operator community. It is a set of performance-based standards that uses a safety management system as its cornerstone, addressing operations, maintenance, training, and other related issues.
