LSC Lands Second Hyperscale Tenant for Tulsa-St. Louis Dark Fiber Route, Signaling Surging AI Demand in Region

SOUTHGATE, Mich., Sept. 1, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Light Source Communications (LSC), a leading provider of high-capacity, future-proof dark fiber networks, today announces the signing of a second major hyperscale tenant on its long-haul dark fiber route connecting Tulsa, Oklahoma, and St. Louis, Missouri. This milestone underscores the increasing strategic importance of the Central U.S. as a critical corridor for the massive data demands of generative AI and high-performance computing (HPC).

The addition of a second hyperscaler validates LSC's vision for this critical route, which spans over 500 miles and features eight in-line amplifiers (ILAs) strategically placed to ensure signal integrity for GPU-dense and AI/ML workloads. Designed from the outset with high-capacity fiber counts and a 100% underground deployment, the network is purpose-built to support the symbiotic relationship between hyperscale clouds and the emerging edge infrastructure required for real-time AI processing.

As Tulsa continues to emerge as a premier data center hub, this multi-tenant validation fast-tracks the region's status, providing the foundational infrastructure necessary to compete with Tier-1 markets. Engineering for the route is substantially complete, with initial construction phases successfully underway. Construction is forecast to be complete in the third quarter of 2027.

The Tulsa-St. Louis route is the third network build LSC has commenced this year, underscoring its emergence as a key infrastructure partner in the AI era. Construction is underway on a similar project bridging Amarillo, Texas, with Oklahoma City, Stillwater, and Tulsa, Oklahoma. Anchored by a hyperscale tenant, the 400-mile route reinforced by seven ILAs will deliver high-capacity, diverse connectivity between these markets. Work also continues a new dark fiber ring serving the Indianapolis, Indiana, metro area. Also featuring a hyperscale tenant, the 240-mile route will consist of five high-capacity rings, encompassing approximately 20 municipalities and providing direct access to several data centers.
