Mississippi Power recognized as a top utility for economic development
GULFPORT, Miss., Sept. 3, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Mississippi Power has been recognized by a pair of publications, Site Selection and Southern Business and Development Magazine, as a top utility for economic development.
Site Selection magazine named Mississippi Power in the honorable mention category in its annual Top Utilities in North America for Economic Development list. Site Selection chooses its winners based on a number of factors including new corporate activity, website and innovative programs offered to business prospects.
Mississippi Power also is recognized by Southern Business and Development magazine as one of "Mississippi's Most Admired Service Companies." The recognition is included in the magazine's inaugural Best of Economic Development in Mississippi awards list to be published in its next quarterly edition. This list consists of 30 economic development categories such as most admired manufacturers, best economic development law firms and best local economic development agencies.

Mississippi Power restructured its Economic Development department in 2014 by creating an Economic Development Services group focused on implementing new programs for both industrial and commercial businesses. The Project Management and Recruiting team was also expanded to include a focus on further developing opportunities in the commercial arena. In addition to distribution and data centers, Mississippi Power enhanced its recruiting efforts related to aerospace, chemicals, energy and automobiles.
