"This award is a tremendous honor for me," said Martinez. "As much as this recognition excites me personally and professionally, it is truly a testament to Comerica's commitment to diversity and the Hispanic community."
Martinez directs Comerica's Hispanic business and community outreach in the bank's primary markets in Michigan, Texas, California, Arizona and Florida. In this role, she supports the bank's ongoing commitment to building strong relationships with Hispanic business owners, entrepreneurs, and the communities where they do business. Since Martinez joined the bank, Comerica launched a Spanish-language website and began accepting the Matricula Consular identification card at Comerica banking centers.
Fluent in Spanish and English, Martinez holds a bachelor's degree from Eastern Michigan University. She earned certificates in Non-Profit Management from Duke University and Corporate Community Relations Management from Boston College. Martinez is also a graduate of the Leadership Detroit program and the New Detroit – Multicultural Immersion Program.
Martinez was recently named to Latino Leaders magazine's "Ones to Watch" list. In 2009 she received the Fusion Horizon Award from the Detroit Regional Chamber of Commerce's young professionals program and the LA SED Board of Directors Award for her commitment to the community. She also was honored as a 2008 HACR Young Hispanic Corporate Achiever and the 2007 Executive of the Year-National Society of Hispanic MBAs (Detroit Chapter).
Comerica was named to Hispanic Business magazine's "Diversity Elite 60" for the fourth consecutive year in 2010.
