New from Nasoya --- Tofu Without All the Water

AYER, Mass., Aug. 30, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- In the quest to make tofu easier for consumers to understand,  tofu innovator Nasoya ( has answered an often asked question: why does packaged tofu come floating in water?

"For 2,000 years the best way to keep tofu fresh and moist was to pack it in water," said Susan Rolnick, Nasoya's VP Marketing. "But today's packaging technology lets us give consumers a more convenient and friendly format, vacuum packaging.  We can seal in moisture and freshness without the excess water."

The first product Nasoya is making available with the "vac-pack" technology is new Super Firm Organic Sprouted Tofu .  Not only is it pre-pressed, but it has a new consumer-friendly size that makes it easy to slice.  Plus it has an easy-open tab in the corner of the package that makes it ready-to-go.

Nasoya's "vac-pack" tofu contains 12 grams of protein per 3-ounce serving instead of the usual 7 grams per serving found with regularly packed tofu. This is because the firmer the tofu, the higher its protein content since it's more concentrated, according to Nasoya's on-line Tofu University ( .

Because "Vac-pack" tofu has a meatier texture, it is perfect to grill or stir fry. Try Nasoya's Sesame Tofu and you'll see: with Nasoya, getting a meal on the table in minutes is no mystery!
