Niagara Networks Debuts Virtual Packet Broker with Subscriber-Aware Mobile Visibility
New Solution Addresses Security, Performance, and Specialized Application Challenges in Mobile Networks
FREMONT, Calif., Sept. 29, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Niagara Networks, a Silicon Valley-based company pioneering the award-winning Open Visibility Platform™ (OVP), today announced the debut of Mobile Visibility with subscriber correlation integrated into its virtualized Network Packet Broker (vNPB). This innovation empowers mobile operators to handle exponential subscriber traffic growth while ensuring security, performance, and user experience with subscriber-aware intelligence.
Mobile network operators (MNOs) face unprecedented challenges: rapidly increasing data throughput, tool sprawl with more specialized monitoring and security solutions, and infrastructure diversity including Open RAN deployments. Traditional visibility approaches often fail to deliver coherent subscriber-aware traffic, leaving monitoring, security, and compliance tools with incomplete or inaccurate data.
To address these challenges, Niagara Networks integrated the new subscriber correlation software into the virtual network packet broker platform. Together, this solution enables deployment in virtualized mobile infrastructure for real-time correlation of control-plane (GTP-C) and user-plane (GTP-U) traffic, ensuring every subscriber session is accurately tracked, even across roaming, VoLTE, or mobility events.
"By adding the new mobile visibility solution, we ensure our virtualized packet broker performs full GTP correlation between control and user plane traffic in real time," said Andre Vink, Vice President of Products at Niagara Networks. "This allows subscriber sessions to be tracked across mobility events, roaming scenarios, and VoLTE calls, so security and performance tools receive a complete and coherent subscriber-aware traffic stream for every session."
Subscriber-aware visibility is the prerequisite for effective mobile network security and performance analysis. Without it, tool outputs are incomplete or inaccurate. By leveraging Niagara Networks' Mobile Visibility solution, operators can:
- Deliver coherent subscriber-aware traffic flows to performance, security, and monitoring tools
- Intelligently load balance and filter traffic across multiple tools using flexible subscriber-level criteria
- Reduce operational costs by avoiding tool starvation and ensuring full data consistency
At the heart of the solution is Niagara Networks' virtualized Network Packet Broker (vNPB), which provides an agile microservices platform with the scale and flexibility required for advanced packet manipulation and network intelligence applications. In addition to subscriber correlation, the vNPB delivers advanced network intelligence functions such as application filtering, header and payload slicing, data masking, NetFlow/IPFIX metadata generation, tunnel termination (including ERSPAN, GRE, NVGRE, VXLAN, and GENEVE), selective TLS decryption, deduplication, and Regular Expression filtering to support sophisticated packet conditioning use cases. With Niagara Networks' Mobile Visibility solution, operators and service providers can transform network monitoring and security, achieving a holistic view of subscriber activity while keeping pace with 4G, 5G, IoT, and beyond.
