Polish & Slavic Federal Credit Union Praised By Congresswoman Maloney And NCUA Board Member Fryzel

NEW YORK, Oct. 11, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Following the famed Pulaski Day Parade in New York, the Polish & Slavic Federal Credit Union received praise from two distinguished visitors to its Brooklyn headquarters, National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) Board Member Michael E. Fryzel and U.S. Congresswoman Carolyn B. Maloney.

While touring the PSFCU headquarters, Mr. Fryzel provided an update on NCUA's initiatives to special guests and senior staff of the credit union.  Rep. Carolyn B. Maloney (D-NY) praised PSFCU's job as a "major community center" in New York City.

"More than 37 years ago, a small group determined they wanted to help immigrants whom upon arrival in New York City wanted to buy homes, but were turned down by other financial institutions," Fryzel said. "Since then, Polish & Slavic Federal Credit Union has been offering needed financial services to America's vast community of Polish immigrants, starting first in New York and later expanding to New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Illinois. With more than 15 branches, I commend the credit union for being one of the largest, if not the largest, ethnic credit union in the United States."

Named an Honorary Grand Marshal of the 2013 Pulaski Day Parade just the day before, and presented with a sash by PSFCU CEO Bogdan Chmielewski, Mr. Fryzel thanked and praised the credit union for the services it provides its members and its ability to participate in events such as the Pulaski Day Parade.

Rep. Maloney, who represents New York's 12^th Congressional District in which the PSFCU headquarters is located, singled out the credit union for its commitment to community and its standing as a leading financial institution to its members.

Maloney said.  The congresswoman stated that credit unions are integral parts of local communities they serve, especially in difficult economic times. The Polish & Slavic Federal Credit Union was established in Greenpoint, New York, in 1976. Since then it has expanded to 16 branches in three states: New York, New Jersey and Illinois. With almost 80,000 members and more than $1.5 billion in assets, PSFCU is the largest ethnic federal credit union in the United States today.
