DUBLIN, Dec 9, 2016 /PRNewswire/ --
Research and Markets has announced the addition of the "Global Automatic Boom Barrier Market 2016-2020" report to their offering.
The report forecasts the global automatic boom barrier market to grow at a CAGR of 14.49% during the period 2016-2020.
The report has been prepared based on an in-depth market analysis with inputs from industry experts. The report covers the market landscape and its growth prospects over the coming years. The report also includes a discussion of the key vendors operating in this market.
Manufacturers have added more advanced security features to automatic boom barriers. The integration of RFID with automatic boom barriers is an example. An RFID tag is attached to the vehicle, and the RFID detector is connected to the boom barrier. When the vehicle approaches the gate, the RFID detects the tag on the vehicle and the gate opens automatically upon validation. So, it provides an easy means for hands-free, long-distance, unique vehicle identification to allow secure entry and exit to vehicles while preventing unauthorized access.
According to the report, there has been an increase in the construction of new roads, bridges, and other infrastructures in both developed and developing countries. Also, existing roads, bridges, and another infrastructure require frequent repairs. Around 18% of major roads in the US are in poor condition, and nearly around 24% of all bridges in the US are structurally deficient or functionally obsolete. So, to address this issue, the US Department of Transportation has selected over a dozen transportation projects that will receive funding for repairs.
Further, the report states that although automatic boom barriers are used for access control, it does not always provide high security as it can be easily broken with the impact from a moving vehicle. Additionally, it blocks the whole width of the road where it is installed, making it impossible for the pedestrians or cyclists to pass through even when only big vehicles are required to be checked for security purposes.
