Retro Rewind: Peace, Love and...Duck Tape®!

AVON, Ohio, June 1 /PRNewswire/ -- What happens when you combine the 60s, 70s and 80s with duct tape? You create the theme for this year's Avon Heritage Duct Tape Festival – Peace, Love and…Duck Tape®. Over Father's Day Weekend, duct tape enthusiasts and festivalgoers will be treated to the grooviest retro rewind of the year – complete with far-out fashions, sculptures and festival fare.

The free, three-day psychedelic celebration of all things duct tape will kick off on Friday, June 18, at 4 p.m. at Veteran's Memorial Park in Avon, Ohio. Hosted in the "Duct Tape Capital" of the world and home of Duck Tape® brand duct tape, festivalgoers will be entertained with a unique display of retro-themed sculptures and fashions created with duct tape. And, since Duck Tape® is available in more than 20 colors, including two new tie-dye colors – Totally Tie-Dye™ and Cosmic Tie-Dye™  – the sculptures and fashions are bound to be dy-no-mite!

Sculptures for this year's festival will be created by students from the University of the Arts in Philadelphia, Penn., led by Assistant Professor Joe Girandola. "The opportunity for my students to prepare, create and exhibit large-scale works using Duck Tape® will be instrumental in their development as artists," said Girandola.

Students from Virginia Marti College of Art and Design in Lakewood, Ohio, will create the fashions for this Festival, incorporating looks from the 60s, 70s and 80s to go along with this year's far-out festivities.

But that's not all. A tent for sticky duct tape arts and crafts for children and adults alike will be open so festivalgoers can try their hand at making a wallet, rose or anything else they can imagine. There will also be free rolls of duct tape to the first 500 people each day of the festival, and, of course, traditional festival favorites, including rides, food, games, live entertainment, booths from local vendors and organizations and more!

Sharing in the Peace, Love and…Duck Tape® theme, a duct tape parade will be held on Saturday, June 19, complete with flower power and floats made with duct tape by local businesses and organizations.

The Avon Heritage Duct Tape Festival begins on Friday, June 18, from 4 p.m. – 11 p.m., and continues on Saturday, June 19, from 11 a.m. – 11 p.m.  Festivalgoers will have one last chance to enjoy the celebration on Sunday, June 20, from 11 a.m. – 5 p.m.
