SANS Institute and HIMSS Partner to Offer Mobile Device Security Webcast
Provides Best Practices for Assessing Tablet and Mobile Device Security
BETHESDA, Md., Aug. 27, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- SANS Institute, the most trusted source for computer security training, certification and research, today announced its upcoming webcast in collaboration with HIMSS, a global, cause-based, not-for-profit organization focused on better health through information technology (IT). Together, SANS and HIMSS are collaborating to offer a mobile device security webcast to provide the IT health community best practices in assessing tablet and mobile device security.
The webcast, Practical Steps for Assessing Tablet & Mobile Device Security, will take place on September 10, 2013 at 1:00pm EDT. Featuring James Tarala, a SANS Senior Instructor and security expert who is also a course author and editor for many SANS IT audit and IT security courses.
During this webcast, James Tarala will explore how people are fundamentally changing the way they work, and in order to remain competitive, organizations are making enterprise applications accessible through mobile devices. The webcast will also discuss how to keep confidential data safe, how to audit mobile devices, and much more.
James adds, "While many organizations have begun including the assessment of mobile laptops in their audit plans, few have included comprehensive programs for assessing the security of tablets, smart phones, and other mobile devices. While physicians and clinicians demand to use the latest gadget, often times the security of the data used on the device is forgotten. Too many organizations have had to report data breaches as a result of improperly secured mobile devices and it is expected that this number will only go up."
In this presentation James Tarala, of the SANS Institute, will provide a practical, streamlined approach to auditing endpoint security on mobile devices and give attendees practical steps for securing the mobile devices in their organization. Attendees will be able to walk away from the presentation not only with an appreciation of the threat, but with practical tools to be able to better secure their data.
