• Abbott signs as sponsor of the 2015 Berlin Marathon - In a press release dated July 24, 2015, Global healthcare company Abbott Laboratories informed that it has been named as an official sponsor of the 2015 BMW Berlin Marathon, which is one of six iconic races in the Abbott World Marathon Majors series. The release highlighted that through its sponsorship of the 2015 BMW BERLIN-MARATHON, Abbott will celebrate how people can do more, achieve more and experience more through their best health. The Marathon is scheduled on Sunday September 27, 2015.

• Details of Participation in the forthcoming event - As per the release, Abbott's sponsorship would be facilitating the event in numerous ways. The Company informed that more than 30 Abbott employees are set to run in the race, which has 40,000 registered participants. The release also noted that around 100 Abbott employees will be coming down from Company's Wiesbaden location to encourage athletes to achieve their race-day goals. As per the release, Abbott, the title sponsor of the Abbott World Marathon Majors is encouraging the sharing of health "best practices" among the six races in the series. Moreover, Abbott will also provide portable blood analysis systems, called the i-STAT®, which perform blood tests such as those for checking heart function or monitoring physical exertion within minutes which would enable the Marathon medical staff to administer care onsite during the race.

• Management opinion - Commenting upon this partnership, Elaine Leavenworth, Senior Vice President, Chief marketing and external affairs officer at Abbott stated "Our partnership with the 2015 BMW BERLIN-MARATHON is a great way for us to celebrate the power of health. • An Update on Other Partnerships - In another press release dated July 23, 2015, Abbott informed about partnering with IRONMAN, the most prestigious event series in triathlons, to help improve triathletes' training journeys, race day experiences and recovery. As per the release, Abbott's EAS Sports Nutrition will support the competing triathletes by assisting them recover from training faster, with products and nutrition advice.
