Sysmex America Appoints Alex Garini Chief Financial Officer

LINCOLNSHIRE, Ill., Dec. 3, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Sysmex America, Inc., a global leader in medical diagnostic testing equipment and information systems technology, today announced that Alex Garini has been named Chief Financial Officer.  Garini, formerly with Siemens Healthcare, reports directly to John Kershaw, President and Chief Executive Officer, Sysmex America, Inc.  Sysmex America is the U.S. headquarters for Sysmex Corporation, Kobe, Japan and has oversight of the corporation's subsidiaries in Canada and Latin America.

Most recently, Garini served as Vice President, Finance for Siemens Healthcare – North America (U.S., Canada, Mexico and Central America) where he had financial oversight of over $6 billion in revenue.  Prior to that, he was Senior Director, Controller – FP&A / Risk Management and Compliance Officer for Siemens Medical Solutions Inc. where he led financial planning and analysis for the Global Healthcare IT Division present in more than 20 countries and reported to the Global CFO.

Garini started at Siemens Brasil, Ltda. in 1990 working in their Marketing and Finance departments in Brazil and Germany and moved through roles of increasing responsibility.  In 1999, he became Chief Financial Officer for Siemens Building Technologies' Latin American region.  At Siemens, Garini also served as Head of Strategic Projects – Corporate Finance for the Building Technologies business and Director of Finance II – Sales & Risk Management for the IT Solutions and Services division. From 1996 to 1999, Garini left Siemens to work in finance leadership positions at Cerberus Pyrotronics and R.R. Donnelley where he was part of their mergers and acquisitions leadership team in Brazil.

Garini earned his bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Pontificia Universidade Catolica de Sao Paulo in Brazil, and he has extensive graduate training from INSEAD in France and other universities in Brazil. Garini speaks English, Portuguese, Spanish and German.
