Sysmex America Appoints Peter E. Shearstone Vice President of Quality and Regulatory Affairs

LINCOLNSHIRE, Ill., Feb. 11, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Sysmex America, Inc., a global leader in medical diagnostic testing equipment and information systems technology, today announced that Peter E. Shearstone has been named Vice President of Quality and Regulatory Affairs.  Shearstone reports directly to John Kershaw, President and Chief Executive Officer, Sysmex America, Inc. Sysmex America is the U.S. headquarters for Sysmex Corporation, Kobe, Japan and has oversight of the corporation's subsidiaries in Canada and Latin America.

Prior to joining Sysmex America, Shearstone served as the Senior Director of Regulatory Communication for Hospira, Inc.  Before then, Shearstone was Division Vice President of Global Quality Assurance at Abbott Diagnostics.  He also served in senior level positions with Power Medical Interventions and Dade Behring (known now as Siemens Healthcare Diagnostics) as Senior Vice President of Regulatory Affairs and Quality Assurance and Vice President of Global Quality Assurance respectively.  Shearstone has spent 22 of his 24 years in the diagnostics industry. 

Shearstone earned his bachelor's degree in Biology from Salem State University in Salem, Massachusetts. Shearstone is a member of the American Society for Quality (ASQ), the Regulatory Affairs Professionals Society (RAPS), the International Society of Pharmaceutical Engineers (ISPE) and the Parenteral Drug Association (PDA).
