Tableau Software Provides New Option to Access and Analyze Data Rapidly on Teradata Databases

WASHINGTON, Sept. 10, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Joint customers of business analytics software company Tableau Software (NYSE: DATA) and analytics platform company Teradata (NYSE: TDC) can now analyze the complete set of relevant business data for any decision and visualize the results with ease and without moving data outside the data warehouse. By using the new Teradata OLAP Connector for Tableau, organizations can simplify access to the data warehouse and eliminate the cost, time and security risks of moving data out of the data warehouse for analysis. They can do this without foregoing the advantages of performing analysis against all of the relevant data rather than a representative sample. The new connector is the latest innovation in joint solutions from Tableau and Teradata; the companies first announced connectivity in 2009.

It also provides simplified and shareable access enabling the business users to focus on the analysis and exploration of their data. This approach also helps IT organizations to control and manage access to the data within the Teradata Database.

Existing Teradata access authentication and authorization rules provide built-in security for direct access from Tableau business analytics software to the Teradata database. Bundled with the Teradata OLAP Connector is a database administrator tool used to easily setup and deploy the analytic schemas and integrate with Teradata security. Schemas are stored in a central repository on the Teradata Database and are sharable for all users with the proper access rights.
