Ten Years Ago Today "Chicken Little" Transformed The Industry And Ushered In The Digital Age Of Cinema

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif., Nov. 4, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Ten years ago today, an animated movie ushered in the digital age of cinema as Disney's Chicken Little launched on 100 RealD equipped screens. Over the past decade, as digital distribution has revolutionized the theatrical exhibition industry, RealD has grown to more than 27,000 screens in 72 countries and has become the global market leader in equipping theaters with 3D technology.

Ever since its debut on November 4, 2005, RealD has been a pivotal partner in delivering more than 200 blockbusters to the public. To date, RealD 3D movies have been experienced more than 1.5 billion times by moviegoers.

In the last year alone, the 3D format has seen a resurgence thanks to films including Jurassic World, The Martian, Ant-Man, Mad Max: Fury Road, San Andreas, Terminator Genisys , and Marvel's Avengers: Age of Ultron, to name a few.  Still to come in 2015 are highly-anticipated films such as The Peanuts Movie, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and In The Heart of the Sea.
