Light The Night events unite survivors, caregivers, and supporters to honor those affected by blood cancer and raise vital funds for research, patient services, and advocacy. Held in nearly 100 cities, the events bring communities together in a powerful show of hope and remembrance with supporters carrying lanterns during a one-mile walk to symbolize their connection to the mission. The 2025 season's first Light The Night event kicks off in Buffalo, NY on September 12. Subsequent events will continue throughout the fall in locations nationwide, the full event lineup can be viewed here.
"With our new name and refreshed look at Light The Night, we're making it crystal clear who we are and who we serve, which is all blood cancer patients," said Coker Powell, Blood Cancer United EVP, Chief Revenue Officer. "Everyone who takes part in this iconic campaign—and every lantern lit—helps drive groundbreaking research, provide critical support to patients and families, and send a powerful message: no one faces blood cancer alone."
In addition to an updated look and feel to reflect its new name, Blood Cancer United will debut a new experience at all Light The Night events. United in Mission (UIM), will feature an interactive 3D "U" sculpture allowing attendees to reflect on the moments that matter – the big (and not so big) life moments that Blood Cancer United will help make possible. The sculptures will also be featured throughout the year at the organization's signature peer-to-peer events, including Team In Training and Athletic events, Visionaries of the Year, and Student Visionaries of the Year.
This year's Light The Night Honored Hero is Sofia of Charlotte, NC, a kindergartener courageously facing treatment for acute lymphoblastic leukemia. Throughout the season, the Light The Night community will be lighting the way for Sofia, her family, and so many others.
