Augie Cunha of Entenmann's, arrives with the new Rich Frosted Patriotic Donuts for National Donut Day with The Salvation Army. The Entenmann's Donut Mobile is 13' Long x 6' Wide and nearly 7' High.
This year's festivities also include the rollout of the new Rich Frosted sprinkled Patriotic Donut Eight Pack, the first Entenmann's Donut Mobile, which was created especially for the event by Themendous.com ("The King of Huge"), and prizes for passers by to win Entenmann's sunglasses, backpacks and more. Entenmann's is also presenting a check for $30,000 to The Salvation Army at the event hosted by Mr. Rich Frosted and Mrs. Crumb Donut, two of Entenmann's iconic donuts, as well as The Salvation Army "Lassies" in historic costumes. Over the course of the partnership, $130,000 has been raised to benefit the lives served by The Salvation Army.
The Salvation Army established the holiday, which is held annually on the first Friday of June, in 1938 in Chicago. The intention was to honor the "Donut Lassies" who served the treats to soldiers during World War I and to help raise funds necessary during the Great Depression. This occasion solidified the donut as a permanent symbol of the services The Salvation Army continues to provide.
