Casio G-Shock And International Explorer Klaus Thymann Travel Through World Timezones In 24 Days

DOVER, N.J., March 20, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Casio G-Shock partners with renowned photographer, filmmaker and creative director, Klaus Thymann to test the time zone and extreme environmental capabilities of the GPW1000 – the World's First GPS Atomic Solar Hybrid watch.

The project, titled Timezone, tested the meticulous technological standards and unwavering durability of the GPW1000 watch.  The 24-day Expedition led Klaus Thymann and his team through three pristine and largely uninhabited locations to capture breath-taking video and still-life imagery - Mexico, New Zealand and the Congo.

• Cenote Agelita, Mexico – Captured precisely timed dives into underwater caves (Jan 14 – 18)
• Fox Glacier, New Zealand – Captured glacial retreat over time (Jan 21 – 27)
• Mount Nyiragongo, The Congo – Captured nature in a remote part of the world (Jan 30 – Feb 6)

Coupling adventure with toughness and technology, the expedition demonstrated the GPW1000 timepiece's strength and universal accuracy regardless of the wearer's position on the world map.

At the core of the watch, the GPW1000 uses a hybrid timekeeping system of Multi-Band 6 technology (allowing users to receive Radio Wave signals transmitted from six stations around the world) and GPS satellite radio wave technology to give wearers automatic, accurate time keeping with a range of operation that covers the entire globe,

Advancements in technology and design included in the GPW1000 create a high-performance, multi-function analog watch, while maintaining outstanding reliability and ease of use. Inclusive functionality and appearance includes a new "shadow dispersing" solar cell and motors which are 26 percent smaller than those used within other Casio G-Shock analog timepieces.  The watches unique design includes a fine resin frame, forged metal bezel with DLC (Diamond-like Carbon) coating, a non-reflective sapphire crystal, forged metal buttons and a carbon fiber insert band.  All of this results in exceptional durability and a high-quality look & feel.
