G-Shock's #Neverblendin Tour Concludes In New York City With In-Store Event
Interactive Cultural Experience comes to NYC to Celebrate Camouflage Timepiece Series
DOVER, N.J., July 7, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Casio America, Inc. celebrates the final stop on their #Neverblendin National scavenger hunt in New York City on July 10th, 2014. The 6 week long hunt- created to drive awareness surrounding their new camouflage timepiece series- has lead consumers through cultural hotspots in Los Angeles, Miami, Dallas and now New York City.
To celebrate the New York hunt, artwork by Jamie Story, Jona Cerwinske and Mason Mcfee (aka Maseman) will be exclusively featured at the G-Shock SoHo Store until August 29th.
Story, Cerwinske and Maseman will also be in attendance at the G-Shock SoHo Store Scavenger Hunt event between 7pm – 10pm on July 10th. The first 25 winners of the local (NYC) portion of the scavenger hunt will be admitted into the event.
HOW TO PLAY:
NATIONAL PLAYERS:
G-SHOCK fans start the scavenger hunt at www.gshock.com/neverblendin. After sign up, players' computers are paired with their smartphone. The custom G-SHOCK application uses Google Maps and Google Street Views to virtually guide players towards G-SHOCK logos, which have been digitally camouflaged into existing street art within the city. Each hidden G-SHOCK logo unlocks a single piece of a larger custom art puzzle. Participants follow the map on their devices until they gather all hidden pieces. The first 25 players to complete the puzzle receive a prize.
LOCAL PLAYERS:
After completing the online portion of the hunt, players are asked if they would like to go offline and hit the streets of New York City. If offline mode is selected, the player is navigated towards the final retail destination in Manhattan, where the final clue is hidden. The first 25 offline players to collect the last clue win a G-Shock prize and gain entry to the event at the G-Shock SoHo Store.
ALL PLAYERS:
After completing the hunt, every player (National and Local) can enter for the chance to win a trip for two to the 2014 US Open of Surfing in Huntington Beach, California.
Three styles comprised of eight models within this stealth, yet bold G-SHOCK camouflage series are the focal point for the multi-city Scavenger Hunt. The woodland and tiger camouflage patterns of these models make the watches perfectly suited for today's street fashion scene; and are sure to stand out in crowd; hence Never Blend In. In addition to their unique look, all styles (GA100CF, GD120CM and GDX6900CM) feature G-SHOCK's world renowned "tough" structure of shock and 200-meter water resistance. Combined with a wide array of functionality, such as 48-city world-time, countdown timer, stopwatch and alarms, the G-SHOCK camouflage series is sure to make time fly.

About G-SHOCK
CASIO's shock-resistant G-SHOCK watch is synonymous with toughness, born from the developer Mr. Ibe's dream of 'creating a watch that never breaks'. Over 200 handmade samples were created and tested to destruction until finally in 1983 the first, now iconic G-SHOCK hit the streets of Japan and began to establish itself as 'the toughest watch of all time'. Each watch encompasses the 7 elements; electric shock resistance, gravity resistance, low temperature resistance, vibration resistance, water resistance, shock resistance and toughness. The watch is packed with Casio innovations and technologies to prevent it from suffering direct shock; this includes internal components protected with urethane and suspended timekeeping modules inside the watch structure. Since its launch, G-SHOCK has continued to evolve, continuing to support on Mr. Ibe's mantra "never, never give up". Money Collection, which he launched in 2004. Apart from his own designs, Story is also partners in The Cut, a brand he works on with Ruslan Karablin of SSUR. About Jona Cerwinske
As a local artist from Miami, Jona has created a name for himself in a relatively short time period. He started doing graffiti art and murals before Wynwood was the artist's playground it is today. His canvas? Anything he can get his hands on that speaks to him in a positive way. His signature black and white graffiti art has sprouted up around the city in exhibitions and galleries and on everything from clothes and cars to his friend's living room wall. Upon first glance, it looks like someone just picked up a Sharpie and started scribbling or doodling, but given a few more moments of observation, the depth of his work is revealed. Each piece is its own expression, with no two being the same. The intricate patterns and details make it nearly impossible to replicate anyway. There's a complexity and dexterity involved in creating such pieces, coupled with the three-dimensional mediums used, that makes his work stand out and very visually-intriguing.
About Maseman
Maseman is Mason McFee, an artist and designer living in Austin, Texas.
Mason spent his childhood in a small town in Texas where he collaborated on projects like building tree houses, rolling giant boulders down hills, building skate ramps and jumping bikes into creeks. In high school, Mason played varsity basketball, drove a yellow 1971 VW Beetle and worked as a cave tour guide for multiple years. After graduating from the university, he spent seven years designing and art directing at an Austin ad agency. Outside of commissions and his personal work, he works for a variety of businesses in Austin and elsewhere, creating artwork, design and projects for print and the web. Mason collaborates with Jessica Clark and other artists on a publishing project named Crummy House, making limited edition zines, artworks and art shows.
