MIAMI, Oct. 20, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Goldflower Cannabis, one of Florida's fastest-growing vertically integrated cannabis companies, proudly announces its groundbreaking artist collaboration with acclaimed contemporary artist John Waguespack, unveiling The Cannabis Advocate Portrait Series: A Tribute in Light, Loss, and Liberation.
The series, which will debut as a monumental three-sided mural at Goldflower's Miami flagship this November, reimagines legendary cannabis advocates such as Bob Marley, Willie Nelson, and Ella Fitzgerald through Waguespack's signature fusion of painting, photography, and digital media. Rooted in personal loss and creative transformation, the series represents a deeply emotional project for Waguespack, whose mother battled Parkinson's disease without access to medical cannabis.
"These portraits are not just art—they're acts of advocacy, healing, and reclamation," says Waguespack. "This series is dedicated to my mother and to anyone denied relief by stigma or policy. Cannabis is more than medicine—it's memory, revolution, and sacred plant work."
Known for his bold, multidisciplinary approach that merges fine art with digital culture, John Waguespack's practice explores what he calls the RGB Universe—a conceptual framework rooted in the red, green, and blue light that powers our digital world. His portraits are kaleidoscopic, spiritual, and multi-layered—bridging the tactile traditions of painting with the illuminated immediacy of the screen age.
The Cannabis Advocate Portrait Series extends this universe into a realm of cultural reverence. Each portrait reimagines an icon through a symbolic artistic lens:
- PROPHET. MARLEY. KLIMT.: A radiant homage to Bob Marley, channeling Gustav Klimt's sacred gold symbolism to portray the musician as both prophet and divine messenger—embodying the Rastafarian belief in cannabis as a sacrament of liberation and love.
- LEGEND. WILLIE. SCHARF.: A vivid, psychedelic celebration of Willie Nelson's lifelong advocacy, blending the joyful surrealism of Kenny Scharf with Nelson's country authenticity to honor cannabis as both protest and poetry.
- ADVOCATE. ELLA. MUTU.: A lush, luminous portrayal of Ella Fitzgerald inspired by Wangechi Mutu's hybrid, organic forms. Fitzgerald emerges as a matriarch of sonic healing—her image blooming with rhythm, rebellion, and regeneration.
The series will culminate in a 120-foot mural at Goldflower's flagship store in Miami —tracing cannabis's spiritual and cultural journey from Jamaica's Orange Street through Bob Marley's global influence, and into Miami's vibrant landscape of art, music, and activism. Interwoven throughout are tributes to the artists and advocates who helped reshape public consciousness around cannabis as both medicine and muse.
"John's work transcends art—it's a narrative of liberation, legacy, and light," says Angelo Lombardi, Presidentof Goldflower Cannabis. "We're honored to bring this vision to life and to continue our mission of celebrating the creative and healing power of the plant."
