Hallmark Announces In-Store Winners in "Life is Funny" Greeting Card Contest

KANSAS CITY, Mo., Sept. 1, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Hallmark today announces 36 winners in its "Life is Funny" greeting card contest, whose humorous birthday cards will be sold in stores beginning in September.  The cards, which will be for sale in Walmart stores, were previously only sold online.

The cards were chosen as part of a competition that invited people to make a funny birthday card featuring photos from every-day life. The contestants began submitting their creations in April. Contestants could enter up to three cards, one for each of the categories: For Him, For Her, or For Anyone.

Hallmark judges looked for cards that had photos and writing that worked well together, could be sent to many different people, and were especially humorous. Winners received a $250 cash prize for being selected as online winners, and an additional $250 cash prize for becoming in-store winners. Cards will be displayed in Walmart stores all across the country during the fall.

"Many people take photos of their funny, everyday moments, so we were very pleased with the quality of submissions," said Kenya Harp, associate innovation leader. "Funny pet and child photos were a consistent theme for this contest, and the writing made them even funnier!"

Also this week, Hallmark announces the opening of the latest card competition – "Marriage & Baby Carriage."  Consumers are invited to create a wedding, baby or anniversary card with a design or photo and sweet or funny words.  Submissions will be accepted Sept. 5-25.  For more information or to submit a card, visit Hallmarkcontests.com.
