Honda Honors its 2020 Top OEM and Service Parts Suppliers in North America

MARYSVILLE, Ohio, June 10, 2021 /PRNewswire/ -- Honda honored 61 North American suppliers for their performance and perseverance in supplying parts and materials during 2020. The suppliers earned awards for supporting Honda with mass production parts and materials, as well as service parts that serve the needs of customers after their purchase of a Honda or Acura product.

Honda purchased $27 billion in parts for mass production from North American suppliers in 2020, which supported the sales of more than 1.3 million Honda and Acura vehicles in North America last year. Honda also purchased approximately $1 billion in parts from its Service Parts suppliers in North America.

Honda recognizes suppliers with awards during its annual Honda Supplier Conference, held each spring for over 35 years. Placing the highest priority on the health and safety of Honda associates and business partners during the COVID-19 pandemic, Honda conducted the conference this year as a virtual event.

Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) Supplier Awards

OEM suppliers provide Honda with parts and materials for mass production. Honda recognized 39 OEM suppliers for their performance in 2020 in one or more of three categories – quality and delivery, value and sustainability.

The Supplier Sustainability Award is given to a company that is committed to social responsibility, based on leadership in the areas of compliance and ethics, environmental governance, diversity, health and safety, social and trade compliance. This year, the Sustainability Award was given to East Penn Manufacturing of Lyons Station, Penn.

Honda does business with 743 OEM suppliers across North America which provide parts to the company's 16 plants in the region that produce Honda and Acura cars and light trucks and the engines and transmissions that power them.

Service Parts Supplier Awards

American Honda Motor Co., Inc. honored 22 suppliers for excellent performance in providing service parts that serve the needs of customers after purchasing Honda or Acura products.

Honda Service Parts supplier awards reflect a supplier's combined performance in three categories: quality, cost, and delivery. American Honda does business with nearly 1,200 service parts suppliers in North America to provide service and accessory parts for more than 20 million Honda and Acura automobiles in operation in the United States, as well as service parts for powersports and power equipment products.

American Honda manages a national network of parts and distribution facilities that deliver high-quality and value service parts to Honda and Acura dealers nationwide as well as supporting global parts operations.

Honda in North America

Honda established operations in North America in 1959. Today, the company employs more than 40,000 associates in the region, engaged in the development, manufacturing, sales and service support of Honda and Acura automobiles, Honda power equipment, Honda powersports products and the HondaJet advanced lightjet.

Based on its longstanding commitment to build products close to the customer, Honda operates 18 major manufacturing plants in North America, working with nearly 800 suppliers in the region to produce the diverse range of Honda products. In 2020, more than 95 percent of the Honda and Acura automobiles sold in the U.S. were produced in North America, using domestic and globally sourced parts.
