Long Haul Trucking Announces Fleet-Wide Deployment of Lytx's DC Protect Program
~ Long Haul Leadership Sees Remarkable Improvement in Driver Performance
SAN DIEGO, Oct. 6, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Lytx, Inc. (formerly DriveCam Inc.), a global leader in delivering video-based driver safety and compliance solutions, announced today a fleet-wide deployment of its DC Protect™ Program, part of the DriveCam powered by Lytx™ family of products, with Minnesota-based Long Haul Trucking Inc. The company trialled the Program for several months, and took advantage of Lytx's combination of video, predictive analytics real-time driver feedback and coaching. By the end of the trial, the company's improvement in driving performance resulted in 92 percent of the drivers experiencing no coachable – or unsafe -- events, leading to the decision to deploy fleet-wide.
"Our mission to help our drivers be the best they can be was accomplished through the DriveCam® Program. The interesting part about the trial was that we selected our newest, most inexperienced drivers to participate, and the results were still remarkable," said John Daniels, CEO of Long Haul Trucking, Inc. "We are eager to see even more compelling results with fleet-wide adoption of this driver safety and compliance solution."
"Prior to the DriveCam Program, you could sense when someone was a safe driver, but you couldn't actually prove it like you can with a video-based system like DriveCam," added Sue Brown, safety director for Long Haul Trucking. "Now we have tangible evidence and can coach, reward, and promote accordingly. Our compliance ratings have gone up as well, as incidents of seatbelt infractions disappeared almost immediately after the trial began."
In addition to deploying the DriveCam Program, the Long Haul Trucking team has wrapped one of their tractor-trailers with Lytx's logos and promotional messaging. The 53-foot long trailer is crossing the country not only promoting the DriveCam Program, but calling attention to trucking safety for drivers and everyone on our roads. You can watch the video here.
"We are excited to bring the message of safe driving in this unique way to motorists all over the country," said Brandon Nixon, CEO of Lytx. "The reason Lytx exists is to save lives by reducing collisions, protecting professional drivers and those of us who share the road with them."
The new DC Protect Program, now deployed at Long Haul Trucking, Inc., helps to prevent collisions, reduce injuries and save lives by combining video with predictive analytics, real-time driver feedback and coaching, empowering fleets to identify and correct the driving behaviors that lead to 90% of collisions. A recent Virginia Tech Transportation Institute study shows that more than 800 lives could be saved each year using video-based driver safety technology, and that the DriveCam Program alone could prevent more than 25,000 commercial vehicle collisions and nearly 40,000 injuries annually.
