New Hallmark Halloween Cards Feature Bonus Videos
Smart phone camera extends the experience
KANSAS CITY, Mo., Sept. 19, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Halloween is more than trick or treating at the neighbor's door with Hallmark's latest greeting card innovation. A new line in this year's Halloween greeting card collection for kids offers the ability to send a bonus video clip of a favorite animated character to a beloved little goblin or ghoul, through the use of a QR Code®.
With the click of a smart phone camera, the QR Code on the back of the greeting card takes the recipient to video scenes from family favorites including Disney "Cars", Scooby Doo™, Marvel Super Hero Squad, and Disney Fairies.
"Halloween is truly a season to celebrate kids," said Monic Houpe, Hallmark product manager. "What more do kids enjoy than videos of their favorite characters? We have heard feedback from moms that Halloween is the perfect time to capture the attention of their kids and extend the fun of a greeting card."
Houpe said the QR Code® makes it easier for mom to help her children in enjoying the video. For those without a smart phone, there are back-up internet addresses on the back of each card to view the video clip using a computer.
The Halloween cards retail for $2.50 and are currently available in Walmart stores. Hallmark will have an expanded card collection using the same technology at Hallmark Gold Crown® stores nationwide and wherever Hallmark products are sold at Christmas.
