DENVER, April 14, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- ARCADIS (EURONEXT: ARCAD), the international design, consulting, engineering and management services company, today announced that PIKA-PIRNIE JV, LLC (the JV), a Mentor-Protege 8(a) Joint Venture, was named Contracting Squadron's Minority Business Owner by the Department of the Air Force Air Education and Training Command (AETC) for 2010. This Joint Venture is the product of the formalized Mentor-Protege relationship established between Malcolm Pirnie and PIKA International, Inc. prior to the ARCADIS-US and Malcolm Pirnie merger.

The JV was selected for its Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity Contract for Architect-Engineering (A-E) Environmental Services for 13 AETC installations. The JV was the highest ranking 8(a) selected for the $200-million-contract shared with three additional large businesses. The JV demonstrated exemplary management skills resulting in its selection for the highly visible stimulus project under the American Recovery and Reconstruction Act (ARRA).
"ARRA projects require an intensity and frequency of reporting during and after the contract – a pace ARCADIS is well-suited to achieve," said Jim Duty, one of the JV's Client Liaisons for the AETC Contract. "Our JV Team worked diligently not only to meet, but exceed expectations of the Air Force AETC and we are grateful to be recognized for our continued commitment to providing solutions that are well above a compliance-based requirement."
The JV was awarded a $1.5 million task order to conduct Spill Prevention Control Measures and mandated Shop-Built Above-Ground Storage Tank inspections for all AETC installations through the Air Force Center of Engineering and the Environment (AFCEE). This recognition is due to the company's strong teamwork at each installation, effective communication with AFCEE, HQ AETC, and a high level of communication with the Contracting Officer. PIKA-PIRNIE JV demonstrated timely responsiveness to the Air Force's mandated ARRA report requirements, contributing to the Air Force's ambition to meet Recovery Act goals by fostering competition and by creating and retaining jobs.
The JV team members were recognized for their efforts at the San Antonio Business Opportunities Council (SABOC) Recognition Awards banquet in October 2010. The event was hosted by the United States Air Force Headquarters AETC Contracting Squadron (AETC CONS), Randolph AFB, Texas.
