Pritzker Hageman Listeria Lawyers Investigate Fresh & Ready Foods Listeria Outbreak Linked to Sandwiches and Snacks

LAS VEGAS, May 14, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- A Listeria monocytogenes outbreak has been linked to ready-to-eat sandwiches and snacks distributed by Fresh & Ready Foods. As of May 2025, at least 10 people in California and Nevada have been hospitalized. Because Listeria can take weeks to cause symptoms, health officials believe additional cases may still be reported.

After interviewing patients, public health officials found that six became ill while already hospitalized. Records confirmed that Fresh & Ready Foods products were served in at least three of the facilities where they were receiving care.

Pritzker Hageman, a nationally recognized food safety law firm, is conducting a legal investigation into the Listeria outbreak to evaluate potential claims on behalf of those affected. The firm is monitoring the outbreak from its Nevada office, which serves clients across the western United States.

Fresh & Ready Foods Listeria Recall Information

On May 10, 2025, Fresh & Ready Foods issued a recall of sandwiches and snack items. The recalled products have "use by" dates from April 22 through May 19, 2025, and were distributed in Arizona, California, Nevada, and Washington. They were sold through retail stores, vending machines, and food service locations, including hospitals.

Listeria in Healthcare Settings Poses a Serious Safety Concern

Listeria infections are especially dangerous for older adults, immunocompromised patients, and pregnant women. This outbreak follows a troubling pattern of contaminated food being served in places meant to protect vulnerable patients. In a recent Listeria outbreak, Lyons Magnus frozen supplemental shakes caused 38 illnesses and 12 deaths in healthcare facilities. These repeated failures point to a breakdown in oversight and food safety practices in the very settings where people should be safest.
