QNAP Enhances Business Series Turbo NAS Line with Two New 8-Drive Rackmount Models Utilizing Multi-core Intel® Xeon® & Core™ i3 CPUs, Optional 10GbE Networking, and Redundant Power Supplies
TAIPEI, Taiwan, Sept. 13, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- QNAP® Systems, Inc. today announced two new 8-drive 2U rackmount Turbo NAS models with up to 24TB storage capacity, featuring either a Quad-core Intel® Xeon® CPU or a Dual-core Intel® Core™ i3 CPU. Both models are backed with a 3-year warranty and feature optional 10GbE networking and can achieve breakthrough data throughput of over 1,000MB/sec and 100,000 IOPS using 10GbE, delivering performance suitable for high-end SMB and data center environments demanding maximum performance and up-time for mission critical applications.
Featuring industry-leading iSCSI support, the new series can simultaneously provide storage solutions for IP-SAN (iSCSI) and NAS implementations. Furthermore, being VMware® Ready, Citrix® XenServer Ready, and Windows® Hyper-V compliant, the new series is ideal for network shared storage for virtual server environments.
The new series supports RAID 0, 1, 10, 5, 6, 5+ hot spare, 6+ hot spare, 10+ hot spare, single disk, JBOD, and the Global Hot Spare allowing a spare drive to flexibly replace a failed drive on any RAID volume on the NAS for automatic RAID data rebuilding. The large capacity of the new units also provides an ideal solution for network-wide backups, file sharing in mixed Windows®, Mac®, Linux, and UNIX environments, private cloud storage, and high-performance computing applications such as high-definition video editing.
"Today's business environment requires network attached storage solutions that provide efficient data access. Intel® Xeon® processors enable energy efficient and high performance solutions with integrated data protection features such as ECC memory," said David Tuhy, General Manager, Intel Data Center Group Storage. "Intel technology powers a broad range of innovative solutions, including the Intel® Core™ i3 processor family for entry level data storage."
