SANTA MONICA, Calif., Sept. 15, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- TrueCar, the only transparent publisher of real-time new (TrueCar.com) and used (ClearBook.com) vehicle transaction data, has announced that Todd Daum, former marketing executive at Yahoo and American Express, has been named Chief Marketing Officer of the Santa Monica based company.
Daum will be responsible for developing, directing and overseeing direct-to-consumer product marketing, ecommerce, online and offline advertising initiatives, and media across TrueCar's current and developing properties.

Daum comes to TrueCar with a unique perspective on the automotive industry. In his prior role as Chief Operating Officer at Automoti.com, Daum built an online marketplace that enables rental car companies to sell their "at risk" vehicles directly to consumers while still in their rental inventory. The company was sold to Hertz in 2009.
Daum is the former Head of Marketing for Overture Services – managing the $500m+ P&L for the SME division of the search-based advertising pioneer. Todd later became head of B2B marketing for all Overture products as well as web hosting, ecommerce and HotJobs.
Before joining Overture, Todd spent 10 years at American Express where he was responsible for Marketing and Business Development in New York and Hong Kong. He also worked extensively in direct response marketing, market entry strategy, business development and brand building for the Merchant and Consumer Card Groups at the Fortune 100 company. While part of the New Industries team, Todd built and ran the Telecom business through his work on merchant acquisition and consumer demand generation. Todd began his career at American Express focusing on the highly successful Platinum Card program.
