NEW YORK, Aug. 27, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Too Good To Go, the social impact company behind the world's largest marketplace for surplus food, has added more than 5,000 new businesses in the past year, fueling expansion alongside national names such as Whole Foods Market, Circle K and Eataly, and regional favorites like Just Salad and Peet's Coffee. With expansion into more than 30 cities in 2025, including today's additions of Albany, Syracuse, Buffalo, Rochester, Milwaukee, Madison, Las Vegas, and Indianapolis, the company continues to extend its reach to millions of Americans seeking affordable food solutions, while helping businesses cut food waste and unlock value from their surplus.
Every year, 38% of food produced in the U.S. goes to waste—equal to nearly 149 billion meals. Too Good To Go's model turns that loss into opportunity: through the app, users can purchase "Surprise Bags" of surplus food from local restaurants, grocers, and cafés at one-third the original price.
"Americans face both a massive environmental challenge and a powerful business opportunity when it comes to food waste," said Chris MacAulay, VP of Operations at Too Good To Go in North America. "With millions of new users joining us this year and a rapidly growing partner network, it's clear there's strong demand for everyday solutions that make food more affordable. That's why we're proud to be expanding to eight new cities today—and by year's end, to every U.S. city with more than one million residents. Together, we're proving that when businesses and communities come together, everyone wins."
That growth momentum is reflected in the numbers. When Too Good To Go first launched in the U.S., it took 15 months to save the first million meals—today, the app helps save more than a million meals every single month. In the first seven months of 2025 alone, 3.6 million new users have joined the app, and with the help of a growing network of over 17,000 partners nationwide, more than 8.1 million meals have already been saved—a 67% increase compared to the same period in 2024.
"Through Too Good To Go, our network of over 100 stores across New Jersey, Florida, Massachusetts, Illinois, New York, Connecticut, and Pennsylvania has helped avoid more than 1.7 million pounds of CO₂e through rescued Surprise Bags," said Alex Harden, Director of Supply Chain & Sustainability at Just Salad. "As the home to one of the largest and longest-running reusable packaging programs in the U.S. restaurant industry, we are committed to reducing food and packaging waste, and our partnership with Too Good To Go helps us scale that impact."
"This coast to coast impact is only possible thanks to the commitment of our users and network of partners, who join us in ensuring good food is enjoyed instead of wasted," adds Chris MacAulay, VP of Operations at Too Good To Go in North America.
