Volvo Bus geeft klanten een middel in handen om de strijd om de passagier te winnen. Een volledig nieuwe touringcarfamilie met een fraai ontwerp en veel comfort zorgt dat meer mensen kiezen voor de bus, zelfs op langere afstanden.

De nieuwe touringcarfamilie van Volvo Bus voor toeristenvervoer en intercitydiensten bestaat uit twee modellen: de luxe Volvo 9900 en de veelzijdige Volvo 9700. Bij beide modellen is het exterieur dynamisch vormgegeven met duidelijke lijnen, vlakke zijkanten en ronde hoeken om de luchtweerstand te breken. De grille is laag geplaatst en geïntegreerd met de voorruit, waardoor het front kracht en cohesie uitstraalt. De aflopende zijruit van de Volvo 9900 wordt gemarkeerd met aantrekkelijke vormen.

Binnen in de bus heeft het designteam verder veel aandacht besteed aan de visuele en tactiele kwaliteit. Passagiers worden verwelkomd in een rustig interieur in een uitgekiend licht kleurenpalet met smaakvolle combinaties van textiel en leer, afgezet met accenten in metaal.

Om passagiers gegarandeerd een holistische eersteklas ervaring te bezorgen heeft Volvo Bus veel geïnvesteerd in oplossingen om het comfort te verbeteren. Zo zijn er ergonomische passagiersstoelen en een goede geluidsisolatie. Het verbeterde klimaatsysteem is ontwikkeld om een constante en aangename temperatuur in de hele bus te verzorgen, ongeacht de weersomstandigheden buiten.

De nieuwe Volvo 9900 is verder voorzien van een extra hoge vloer, een aflopende 'theatervloer' en grote glazen ruiten die een uitstekend zicht bieden naar voren en naar de zijkanten. Het plafond is 8 centimeter verhoogd en de overgang tussen wanden en dak is strak vormgegeven. Hierdoor maakt het interieur een ruimtelijke indruk met aanzienlijk meer inhoud.

Zowel de Volvo 9700 als de Volvo 9900 bieden uitgebreide oplossingen voor actieve en passieve veiligheid. Nieuwe voorzieningen zijn bijvoorbeeld een robuustere Frontal Impact Protection (FIP) en een Driver Alert-systeem dat de bewegingen van de bus controleert en een waarschuwing geeft als de chauffeur vermoeid raakt of niet voldoende op de weg let.
