Chenyu Gong of LEAD Group Named to Fortune China MPW Emerging Leaders for Second Year

WUXI, China, Sept. 29, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- On September 10, 2026, Fortune China released its 17th annual Most Powerful Women (MPW) list. Chenyu Gong, Senior Vice President, CFO and CHRO of LEAD Group, was named to the Emerging Leaders list, recognizing her among a new generation of women leaders shaping China's business landscape. This marks her second consecutive appearance following her inclusion in 2025.

This year's MPW theme, "Decision-Making in the Era of Efficiency," focuses on how business leaders navigate an environment where efficiency and the quality of decision-making are increasingly critical. The Emerging Leaders list highlights a new generation of rising female leaders in China and is regarded as an early indicator of shifts in business influence.

From Finance to Industry: A Dual CFO–CHRO Role

Chenyu Gong earned her dual bachelor's degrees in Mathematics and Economics from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), before completing a master's degree in Finance at Princeton University. Before moving into the industrial sector, she worked as an analyst at Merrill Lynch in the United States and later as an investment manager at Wuxi Xinchuang Investment Management Co., Ltd., building experience across capital markets, investment management and global finance.

After joining LEAD Group, Gong was appointed Senior Vice President, CFO and CHRO, bringing her financial expertise into advanced manufacturing while overseeing the Group's financial strategy, capital management, digital transformation, human resources systems and sustainability planning. As CFO, she spearheaded LEAD's financial digital transformation initiative in 2023, developing a globally integrated business and finance management platform centered on financial and operational performance. By connecting previously siloed data, the platform has strengthened management visibility and enabled faster, more forward-looking decision-making. As CHRO, she has focused on building an international talent pipeline aligned with the company's "globalization + platformization" strategy, while refining organizational and performance management systems to ensure that organizational capabilities keep pace with business expansion.

ESG and Social Impact: From Strategy to Action

ESG is another core area of Gong's work. She has been closely involved in shaping and implementing LEAD's sustainability framework, helping embed ESG principles across the environmental, social and governance dimensions of the business.

On the environmental front, LEAD Group has established carbon-neutrality targets and a clear roadmap toward achieving them, while advancing distributed rooftop solar projects and the development of carbon-neutral factories. The Group is also integrating lifecycle carbon-footprint management into product development and manufacturing. On the governance front, Gong has worked to incorporate ESG investment into long-term return assessments and embed ESG metrics into performance management and talent development. On the social front, LEAD established the RMB 30 million LEAD Warm Light Public Welfare Fund in early 2025, supporting research initiatives for the public good, education, rural revitalization and environmental protection. In October of the same year, Gong led a team to Yichuan County in Yan'an, Shaanxi Province, for field research and community support, launching initiatives including maker classrooms, expanded assistance for children in need, and donations of winter school uniforms and quality books.

Through her continued work in financial digitalization, global strategy and ESG, Gong has received a series of industry recognitions, including the Dingge Award's 2024 CFO of the Year, selection to the 2024 Forbes China  Outstanding Overseas Returnees Top 100 and the 2025 ESG Energy Young Entrepreneurs Innovation Top 30. In 2026, she was also honored at the Women Leaders in Energy Awards. She has now been named to Fortune China's Most Powerful Women in Business – Emerging Leaders list for two consecutive years.
