Closing the Loop: Sungrow Sponsors Solar and Storage System to Power Northern Rivers Solar Recycling Hub

TYAGARAH, Australia, Nov. 3, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Sungrow, the leading global PV inverter and energy storage system provider, partnered with ReSolve Global, a solar panel recycling facility in the Northern Rivers, supporting the next stage of Australia's clean energy transition.

As Australia's rooftop solar uptake continues to grow, so does the number of panels reaching the end of their working lives. The NSW Government recently announced consultation on Australia's first mandatory solar panel product stewardship scheme, aimed at ensuring end-of-life panels are recovered, reused and recycled. Local infrastructure that can handle this equipment will be essential as the scheme develops.

ReSolve Global has established a 2,000-square-metre holding and sorting facility where used solar panels are collected, recorded, assessed and sorted.  It keeps used solar panels and other renewable-energy equipment out of landfill and recovers valuable materials for reuse and recycling.

"Solar has delivered enormous benefits for Australian homes and businesses, but we also need to take responsibility for the equipment coming off rooftops. Our goal is to build a transparent and practical system that prioritises reuse wherever appropriate and ensures the remaining materials are responsibly recovered." Said Ben Pietzsch, Director of ReSolve Global.

To support the operation, Sungrow has sponsored a 20kWh SBH battery and 10kW SH10RS inverter, allowing the facility to run on clean, self-generated energy. The Sungrow SBH system pairs a hybrid energy storage solution with intelligent energy management, allowing the facility to store surplus solar generation and use it when needed. Combined with a Sungrow single-phase inverter, the system converts solar energy into reliable power for the facility's daily operations, including equipment, lighting, and administration. This reduces reliance on grid electricity, lowers operating costs, and cuts emissions associated with the recycling process.

For Sungrow, supporting ReSolve is about closing the loop on the clean energy transition. A facility dedicated to recovering solar equipment should itself run on solar, demonstrating the circular, low-carbon model the industry is working towards.

"Solar has transformed how Australian homes and businesses generate power, and it's our responsibility as an industry to make sure that equipment is managed well at the end of its life. ReSolve is doing exactly that, and we're proud to support them. By powering their Tyagarah facility with a Sungrow SBH system and inverter, we're helping ReSolve practise what it preaches: a recycling operation running on clean energy. It's a meaningful step towards a truly circular solar industry, and we hope it inspires other businesses to follow." said Richard Chen, C&I Business Development Manager of Sungrow.

The sponsorship reflects a shared commitment to sustainability. Sungrow contributes proven technology and more than two decades of expertise in PV and energy storage, while ReSolve brings local knowledge, hands-on recovery capability and a clear vision for reuse. Together, this demonstrates how manufacturers and recovery specialists can work side by side to support the full life cycle of solar.

"The Northern Rivers has long been a place where people are prepared to think differently about sustainability and resource use. It is fantastic to see that innovation happening locally and creating the potential for new skills, jobs and circular-economy opportunities in our region." Tamara Smith MP of Ballina.

Looking ahead, Sungrow will continue to support ReSolve as it grows and to work with the wider industry to advance sustainable end-of-life solutions.
