Hengqin Chimelong Resort: An All-in-One Getaway Beyond Hong Kong & Macau

ZHUHAI, China, Oct. 14, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Just beyond Hong Kong and Macao, award-winning Hengqin Chimelong Resort brings together record-breaking theme parks, spectacular entertainment and resort stays in one destination. It is a place to swap the city skyline for whale sharks, futuristic indoor adventures and fireworks — all within the Greater Bay Area.

Just across the border from Macao is Hengqin, Zhuhai, home to Hengqin Chimelong Resort. Hengqin Port operates 24 hours a day, making the journey from Macao more convenient than many first-time visitors might expect. From Hong Kong, Hengqin is also around two hours away via the Hong Kong–Zhuhai–Macao Bridge.

So if Hong Kong and Macao are already part of your holiday, Hengqin does not have to feel like planning another trip from scratch. It is simply another side of the Greater Bay Area waiting to be explored.

More Than a Theme Park: A World-Class Resort Destination

Hengqin Chimelong Resort is built on a scale that is hard to miss. Chimelong Ocean Kingdom has set seven world records and received international recognition from the Themed Entertainment Association, while Chimelong Spaceship spans nearly 400,000 square metres and holds the Guinness World Records title as the world's largest indoor theme park. Spaceship itself has also set seven world records and received international Thea Award recognition — impressive credentials for a resort that has always thought big.

But size is only part of the reason to stay. Across the resort, days can move from marine life and thrill rides to immersive technology, live entertainment and fireworks, with themed hotels and dining close by. Instead of travelling across the city for each experience, you can simply settle in and enjoy the resort at your own pace.

Start with Whale Shark, Stay for the Fireworks

If there is one sight that captures the scale of Chimelong Ocean Kingdom, it is the Whale Shark Aquarium. Stand before its enormous viewing window as whale sharks glide through the water alongside schools of fish, then continue exploring to encounter even more fascinating marine life, from belugas and sea lions to penguins and polar bears.

For those looking to go beyond simply watching, ocean animal exploration camp offers a more hands-on way to discover marine life, learn about animal care and explore the wonders of the ocean.

And don't leave before nightfall. The Fireworks Show fills the sky with fireworks, drones, lasers and live performances, turning the end of the day into one of the park's most memorable moments.

Rain or Shine, the Adventure Continues Indoors

Anyone who has planned a holiday around Southeast Asia knows how quickly heat or sudden rain can change the day. That is where Chimelong Spaceship has a particularly welcome advantage: the adventure takes place indoors.

And "indoor" certainly does not mean small. Spanning around 400,000 square metres, Chimelong Spaceship is the world's largest indoor theme park. Inside, 67 freshwater and seawater pools are home to nearly 150,000 marine animals across more than 400 species, alongside immersive attractions and high-tech entertainment.

Families can journey underwater aboard the Deep-Sea Submarine, feel the action of Bermuda Storm 5D Theatre, or simply wander through a futuristic world where marine discovery meets technology.

That futuristic feeling now goes even further. Following a major upgrade in September 2026, Chimelong Spaceship became what the resort describes as the world's first large-scale embodied-intelligence theme park, bringing hundreds of robots into the visitor experience. Children can watch robot performances, interact through Q&A, meet robotic "marine science tutors" and see robots take part in large-scale shows — a playful way to get surprisingly close to the technology of the future.

And with everything indoors, it is the kind of place where you can forget about the weather outside — and easily lose a few hours inside.

Stay, Play and Make Time for the Show

For another side of the resort, make time for the award-winning Chimelong Show. Bringing together international performers, acrobatics, extreme stunts and spectacular stage effects across land, water and air, the production received the 31st Thea Award for Outstanding Achievement. It is a different kind of Chimelong experience — one built around live performance rather than rides or marine life.

Then, instead of heading straight back to the city, stay within the resort. Hengqin Bay Hotel, Penguin Hotel, Circus Hotel and Spaceship Hotel each offer a different way to keep the holiday going beyond the park gates — whether that means seaside views, family-friendly themes or simply waking up close to the next day's adventure
