KES 2026 | Fibocom LE270-KR Secures KC Certification and KT Network Approval, Supporting Smart Metering and Other IoT Deployments

SEOUL, South Korea, Oct. 13, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- At KES 2026, the Korea Electronics Show, Fibocom is showcasing its LE270-KR LTE Cat.1 bis wireless communication module, presenting a low-power cellular connectivity solution for smart metering and other IoT applications.

LE270-KR has obtained KC certification, South Korea's mandatory product certification, and received network approval from Korean operator KT. Now in mass production, the module has been successfully adopted in a smart meter project in South Korea, marking another step in Fibocom's continued expansion of its global IoT connectivity capabilities.

Built on the Eigencomm EC718P_M chipset platform, LE270-KR targets IoT applications with low to medium data rate requirements. Its low power consumption, compact design, and LTE Cat.1 bis capabilities address the reliable connectivity needs of devices designed for long-term operation, including smart meters.

Advancing Smart Metering Connectivity for Long-Term Operation

As smart grids and digital infrastructure continue to develop, smart meters and other connected devices require communication solutions that deliver stable connectivity, low power consumption, and sustained operation.

LTE Cat.1 bis balances performance, cost, and power consumption while meeting medium data rate requirements, making it suitable for smart metering, asset tracking, industrial IoT, and other connected applications.

Designed specifically for IoT applications, Fibocom LE270-KR uses an LCC+LGA package measuring just 17.7 mm × 15.8 mm × 2.4 mm, supporting compact device designs. Optimized power consumption in connected mode and discontinuous reception (DRX) standby mode further addresses the low-power connectivity requirements of smart meters and other devices designed for long-term operation.

Strengthening Local Market Support for IoT Deployment in South Korea

LE270-KR supports LTE frequency bands used in South Korea and has obtained KC certification and KT network approval, providing a reliable connectivity foundation for device manufacturers entering the South Korean market.

Its adoption in a South Korean smart meter project marks a step in Fibocom's ongoing expansion of its global IoT connectivity capabilities. Drawing on its wireless communication R&D expertise, global certification experience, and industry application knowledge, Fibocom continues to deliver cellular communication solutions tailored to industry needs across different markets.

Flexible Interfaces to Accelerate Device Development

LE270-KR integrates multiple general-purpose interfaces and supports mainstream operating systems such as Windows and Linux, helping customers simplify integration and accelerate device development.

Fibocom will continue to address the needs of smart metering, industrial IoT, and other industries, advancing the adoption of LTE Cat.1 bis and other cellular connectivity technologies across the global IoT market.
