Pingtung Tourism Union Advances to Malaysia for Promotional Event, Targeting the International Markets of Singapore and Malaysia
TAIPEI, Aug. 16, 2023 /PRNewswire/ -- In 2023, Dapeng Bay National Scenic Area Administration, Tourism Bureau, MOTC, is making full efforts to seize the international tourism market. Collaborating with various tourism associations and businesses in the Pingtung Tourism Union, they are joining forces to promote their cause. In partnership with the Tourism Bureau's Kuala Lumpur office, they organized the Pingtung Tourism Promotion Event on August 9th in Kuala Lumpur. During the event, they introduced the latest and most captivating attractions, food, and entertainment information of Pingtung to Malaysian travel industry professionals, with the hope of stimulating the international group tourism market in Pingtung.
Malaysia boasts both a Chinese and Muslim market. For Malaysian Chinese travelers, Taiwan presents a highly convenient tourist destination due to the absence of language barriers. They constitute a significant proportion of overseas visitors to Pingtung. In recent times, the Dapeng Bay National Scenic Area administration has been actively promoting a Muslim-friendly environment within the tourism zone. They have been providing guidance to businesses to obtain Muslim certifications. While enhancing the tourism environment, they also aim to capture the attention of travelers from Singapore and Malaysia through the promotional event, envisioning Pingtung county as the next sought-after travel destination.
The promotional event was co-hosted by the Pingtung Tourism Union, and Jhou, Shihbi Director of the Kuala Lumpur Office of the Tourism Bureau. Dignitaries present at the event included President Bao, Yi-Syong of the Malaysian Chinese Tourism Association, General Manager Tang, Chong-Jian of China Airlines, General Manager Zen, Shih-Jie of EVA Air, and General Manager Syu Jian-Wen of STARLUX Airlines. They engaged with participants from the Pingtung Tourism Union.
Director Jhou, Shibi of the Kuala Lumpur Office actively promotes Taiwan's tourism affairs. In his speech, he highlighted the unique features and attractions of Pingtung, inviting travel agencies to explore the area to facilitate business collaborations. President Bao, Yee Heng of the Malaysian Chinese Tourism Association has a long-standing partnership with Pingtung's tourism businesses. He envisions developing new tourism models for the Chinese and Muslim markets. Especially as travel trends evolve from group tours to smaller groups and independent family travel, businesses must adapt to grasp opportunities.
Chairwoman Jheng, Yi-fang of the Pingtung Tourism Association expressed that Malaysia is a vital tourism market for Pingtung. To further increase visitor numbers, addressing transportation is a key issue. She hopes to add more flights that stop in Kaohsiung, facilitating quicker access to Pingtung for international tourists.
During the event, several promotional videos and presentations showcased the latest developments in Pingtung's accommodations, food, shopping, and sightseeing. This attracted enthusiastic inquiries from travel agency professionals, seeking more detailed information. More than 60 Malaysian travel industry representatives and media attended the event, engaging in active discussions with Pingtung businesses. This robust interaction reflects the anticipation of new travel markets among Malaysian and Singaporean businesses in the post-pandemic era. They show keen interest in the vibrant offerings of southern Taiwan, particularly Pingtung.
The Pingtung Tourism Association, Tourism Industry League of Hengchun Peninsula, Dapeng Bay Travel Industry Alliance, Pingtung County Lodging Association, and Pingtung Tourism Revitalization Alliance presented booths, showcasing the latest information on local sightseeing itineraries, accommodations, and souvenirs. Many tourism industry professionals also participated in marketing activities, aiming to create more collaborative business opportunities through this promotional event.
