MACAO, Oct. 9, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Sands China and NBA Cares jointly presented School Day today, the third event of the "NBA Cares x Sands Cares Community Impact Week" at Yuet Wah College, Macau. The event welcomed the return of NBA legend Mitch Richmond –– a 2002 NBA champion, six-time NBA All-Star, five-time All-NBA Team, and 2014 Basketball Hall of Fame Inductee –– to Macao, joining NBA coaches in visiting a local campus to engage with young Macao basketball players through a range of activities, including basketball skills training and cultural exchange experiences.

Beyond basketball exchange, School Day featured meaningful cultural exchange between East and West. Accompanied by teachers and students at the school, NBA legend Mitch Richmond participates in a Chinese calligraphy session, learning firsthand the techniques of brushwork and ink application while gaining a deeper appreciation of the richness of Chinese culture.
To further extend the positive impact of the event, Sands China and the NBA donated basketballs and training equipment to Yuet Wah College.

School Day brought together around 600 participants, including Mitch Richmond and NBA coaches and management, alongside teachers and students from Yuet Wah College and Colégio Dom Bosco (Yuet Wah), senior management from Sands China, and the Sands Cares Ambassadors.
During the event, Mitch Richmond and NBA coaches led a dedicated basketball clinic for members of the boys' basketball teams from Yuet Wah College and Colégio Dom Bosco (Yuet Wah), who each won their division's championship in this year's Inter-School Basketball Competition in Macao. Through hands-on guidance and skills demonstrations, the basketball clinic provided precious learning opportunities for the students, inspiring and encouraging them in their pursuit of excellence.

The "NBA Cares x Sands Cares Community Impact Week 2026" is taking place over five consecutive days, Oct. 7-11, featuring a diverse programme of activities focused on youth development, healthy living and community inclusion. Current NBA players and legends will engage with communities across Macao, with the initiative seeking to extend the impact of the NBA sporting event into the community and enable more Macao residents to experience the positive energy and excitement generated by the world-class basketball event.
The fourth event of Community Impact Week, Health and Wellness Day, will take place tomorrow (Oct. 10) at the Fuhong Society of Macau's Happy Kitchen Social Enterprise. During the event, an NBA legend, Sands China senior management, and Sands Cares Ambassadors will assemble and distribute boxed lunches to people in need in Macao, extending care and support to the local community.
