Sumsub Agentic AI Council Launches in APAC and Invites Experts to Advance Trusted AI Adoption

Cross-sector leaders will develop practical guidance on responsible use cases, trustworthy technical foundations and workable guardrails for agentic AI

SINGAPORE, Sept. 29, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Sumsub, the first AI-powered trust infrastructure for compliance operations at scale, today announced the launch of the Sumsub Agentic AI Council (the "Council"), an APAC-focused cross-sector forum that convenes expertise to develop practical frameworks, advance shared best practices and inform responsible agentic AI adoption.

The Council is now calling for leaders and experts from policy, academia, technology, industry and civil society to express interest in participating as founding Council advisors. By bringing together cross-sector perspectives, the Council will examine the real-world conditions needed to deploy agentic AI responsibly, including identity, delegated authority, security, transparency, accountability and oversight.

AI agents are rapidly evolving from experimental tools into systems capable of planning, making decisions and taking actions on behalf of individuals and organizations. Emerging use cases such as agentic commerce illustrate their growing real world impact, with Deloitte reporting that nearly three-quarters of APAC consumers already use AI to discover, compare, and research products. Meanwhile, 95% of businesses are already using or piloting multi-step AI systems with limited human input. Yet, recent incidents have demonstrated how AI systems can operate beyond their intended scope or take unexpected actions, underscoring the importance of accountability, transparency and human oversight. Across APAC, the common challenge is to unlock the value of autonomous AI while ensuring it can be trusted, controlled and deployed responsibly.

Regional policy and standards initiatives signal growing recognition of the opportunities and considerations associated with agentic AI. Singapore's Model AI Governance Framework for Agentic AI, Mainland China's efforts to develop standards for AI agent identity and interoperability, Hong Kong SAR's 2026 Policy Address proposal for cross-sector AI agent safety-management guidelines, and the Securities and Futures Commission of Hong Kong SAR (SFC)'s exploration of new guidance on the use of AI agents in the financial services sector signal the same trend. However, as the agentic AI landscape continues to evolve rapidly, practical insights from businesses and technical experts will be equally important in informing how agentic AI is deployed at scale, governed and trusted in practice.

Bridging Innovation, Infrastructure and Accountability in Agentic AI

Through its three pillars—Adopt, Build and Govern—the Council will translate insights into outputs, including guidance on responsible AI adoption, research and industry reports, stakeholder dialogues and thought leadership initiatives.

• Adopt: Explore responsible and impactful applications of agentic AI across the digital economy, including compliance, fraud prevention, customer experience and operational efficiency.
• Build: Advance the technical and operational foundations required for trustworthy AI agents, including agent identity, verifiable credentials, secure architectures, traceability and interoperability.
• Govern: Address the policies, standards and accountability mechanisms needed as AI systems gain greater autonomy, helping clarify responsibilities and develop practical governance approaches.

Founding advisors will contribute to workstreams across the Adopt, Build and Govern pillars, helping develop a practical framework covering AI agent identity, delegated authority, interoperability and auditability. The Council's first working group is expected to focus on agentic commerce, exploring the identity, accountability, and oversight considerations that may arise when AI agents act on behalf of consumers and businesses.
