SUS ENVIRONMENT Draws International Attention for Transforming Waste-to-Energy Plants into Sustainable Urban Assets

SHANGHAI, Oct. 14, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- SUS ENVIRONMENT has been featured in the latest issue of Waste Management World (WMW) 3/2026, the official magazine of the International Solid Waste Association (ISWA) and a leading publication in the global waste management industry.

Titled "Designing a Sustainable Future," the two-page Success Story highlights how SUS ENVIRONMENT stands out through its innovative approach to waste-to-energy (WtE) infrastructure, combining advanced technology, architectural aesthetics and community integration.

From Industrial Facilities to Urban Landmarks

Rather than following standard industrial designs, SUS ENVIRONMENT creates WtE facilities that reflect local landscapes and cultural identities.

From Xinhui's sail-inspired architecture to Liuzhou's honeycomb elements and Nanning's mountain-like silhouettes, these projects demonstrate how industrial facilities can become distinctive urban landmarks.

The company's projects have also received international recognition, including the Paris Design Awards and Architizer A+Awards, alongside China's prestigious Construction Engineering Luban Prize.

From Landfill to Landmark

The article spotlights SUS ENVIRONMENT's Xinhui Project in Jiangmen, China.

Built on a remediated former landfill, the facility processes 1,500 tonnes of municipal solid waste daily, serving over 900,000 residents. Its distinctive "Cloud-Sail Charging Through Waves" architecture draws inspiration from local sailing heritage, transforming an environmental challenge into a new urban landmark.

From Waste to Wonder

Beyond energy recovery, the feature explores how SUS ENVIRONMENT integrates environmental education, public engagement and architectural design to create broader value for cities and communities.

With over 90 WtE plants invested in and constructed worldwide, SUS ENVIRONMENT continues to demonstrate that sustainable infrastructure is not only engineered for performance, but also designed for people and cities.
